The idea is for young people to use the space to share their experiences as writers. The procedure to get a blog: create a user account on this site by going to http://www.wordstreet.org/user. Then click "my blog" on the left hand menu. Hopefully, your blog will show up on our site.
Volunteers make a difference by sharing their time, energy, and talents to organizations that make a difference. Volunteering can have a meaningful, positive impact on your community but it can also help you discover something you are really good at and develop a new skill. Word Street is looking for its February Teacher of the Month, and we need your help. If there's a teacher in your life who has inspired you to pursue your dreams, explore your passions, and be the best student you can be, Word Street wants to hear from you.
Word Street has dusted off the tables, cleared the cobwebs, and restocked the snack pantry for the spring semester. Students 8-18 are welcome to drop-in Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5:30 to get help with anything reading or writing related or to explore their creative side.
Word Street was awarded a grant by the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. Several students drove out from Waltham, MA to visit our Middle School Writers Group and create digital images and audio files of the group in action. Thanks to the generosity of the CDIA, Word Street will have a multimedia promotional packet for its programming.
Word Street clears out its writing center every Monday for middle school writers. Writers of short stories, poetry, plays, or real-life adventures are invited every Monday from 4-5:30. There are snacks, drinks, acting out scenes from original work, and sometimes the writers chase each other for no apparent reason. It's fun. Call 997-3307 for more information or just show up.
